From April 14 to 17, at the invitation of Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of China, To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of Vietnam, paid a four-day state visit to China. Vietnamese students from China University of Petroleum-Beijing(CUP) participated in the airport welcome ceremony for To Lam’s arrival, as well as a meeting with representatives of the Vietnamese community in China.

On April 14, To Lam arrived in Beijing. Vietnamese students from CUP, including Nguyen Thi Diep, Tang Phuong Tu, Nguyen Thi Hao, Dang Thi Minh, Le Tran Minh Anh, Tran Khanh An, Doan Nguyen Ngoc Anh, and Luong Thao Hien, held the national flags of China and Vietnam and joined the welcoming delegation, chanting slogans to greet the distinguished guest.

On the same day, To Lam met with staff of the Embassy of Vietnam in China and representatives from various sectors of the Vietnamese community in China. Nguyen Thi Diep and Tang Phuong Tu, representing Vietnamese students from CUP attended the meeting.

In April 2025, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China, paid a state visit to Vietnam, advancing the building of a China–Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance to a new stage of development. After being elected President of Vietnam, To Lam chose China as the first country on his overseas visits, fully reflecting the high priority he places on developing relations between the two Parties and two countries.

The future of China–Vietnam friendship lies in the youth. The mutual learning, understanding, and affinity between the young people of the two countries have pooled the youthful strength for building a China–Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance. Since 2003, CUP has trained a total of 380 Vietnamese students. Looking ahead, CUP will continue to cultivate more envoys of friendship and bridges of cooperation who possess both an affinity for China and a global perspective, in support of advancing China–Vietnam friendly cooperation.
